The Florida Motorcycle Safety Program (FSMP) is a five-year motorcycle safety initiative under the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), in collaboration with ABATE of Florida, Inc. (ABATE), American Legion Riders – Department of Florida (FL-ALR), and the Latin American Motorcycle Association (L.A.M.A.) Inc. Our mission is to promote motorcycle crash prevention, to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities on Florida roads through education, outreach, and awareness efforts. We achieve this through:
Understanding rider behaviors and attitudes
Engaging riders at events and online
Utilizing paid and organic media, including social media and PSAs, to promote safety
Collaborating with organizations like Ride Smart Florida, the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR), the Florida Motorcycle Safety Coalition, local motorcycle dealerships, and rider groups to advance shared safety goals, provide motorcycle safety courses, training courses, and motorcycle defensive riding tips.
We are dedicated to inclusivity, collaboration, and a proactive approach to Florida’s motorcycle safety program. By uniting our strengths, we can create a comprehensive and impactful approach to enhance safety through motorcycle crash prevention and make Florida’s roads safer for all riders.
